Mrs. Blaney has spent a lifetime in education - as a student, teacher, specialist, and finally as an administrator. She grew up in Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Early Childhood Development. After graduating, Mrs. Blaney relocated to California and began teaching in El Segundo. She moved to La Cañada in 2004 and started teaching in San Gabriel in 2006. Mrs. Blaney joined La Cañada Unified five years later, first as a teacher, then as a specialist helping teachers integrate technology into their practice. During that time she earned her Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and her administrative credential from California State University, Northridge. Mrs. Blaney has a solid foundation in curriculum, standards-based instruction, differentiation, and leadership.
Mrs. Blaney’s goal for students is to help them become responsible, caring, and self-confident adults. She is profoundly committed to the academic, social, and emotional growth of La Cañada Elementary’s young citizens.She pledges her commitment to the staff and to the families to be present, communicate effectively, and help maintain the level of excellence that is the legacy of LCE.
