LCHS 7/8: Collaboration Day Summaries for January

Social Science:

7th - 7th Grade Social Science teachers collaborated with the English 7 Team to discuss cross-curricular writing skills, such as in-text citations and teaching how to add commentary/analysis. They discussed strategies, expectations, and pacing guides.

 8th - 8th grade Social Science teachers met to discuss and start creating the Common Assessment that should be given by mid-February. The teachers also created Performance Tasks that involved poetry and letter writing skills.

Science:

7th - 7th Grade Science teachers discussed Nearpod programs with 8th grade teachers. Teachers are interested in the programs for the ability to cover curriculum at an individual pace and the fact that they integrate well with chromebook use.  Both grade levels met to discuss a PLC day with lesson plan design using Nearpod.  Results of the Chapter 7 test were evaluated.  

8th - 8th Grade Science teachers evaluated the use of Nearpod interactive tutorials.  Many of the tutorials align well to the current curriculum.  Cost of the tutorials was discussed as well.

English:

7th - 7th grade English teachers met to discuss the 1st semester final exam and any possible adjustments for the following year. 7th and 8th grade English teachers met during PLC time to discuss textbook changes, preparation for upcoming Common Core exams, essay alignment, and Chromebook practices for the 8th grade teachers as the current 7th grade classes use the Chromebooks daily.

Math:

7th - 7th grade teachers met to discuss the 1st semester final exam. We discussed concepts that may have to be revisited for the students success. We will also plan out the lessons for the month of January. We will work on creating common quizzes and unit tests. We will begin to finalize our stock project and discuss what we would like the students to include in their website.

8th - 8th grade teachers will plan out the units for January based on the pacing guides and make adjustments accordingly. We will also create common assessments for the upcoming units. In addition, we will discuss vocabulary and topics to emphasize for the upcoming units based on our meeting with the LC Math I Advanced teachers back in December.
