A recent lawsuit against the California Department of Education (CDE) is impacting all school districts across the state, including La Canada Unified School District.
Morgan Hill Concerned Parents Association and the Concerned Parent Association, filed a lawsuit against the CDE in April of 2012, alleging widespread, systemic non-compliance by local education agencies with special education laws.
La Canada Unified School District was not involved in the lawsuit and is not the subject of any of the suit’s allegations. However, as a part of this lawsuit, CDE has been ordered by the United States District Court to release all data it has collected on general and special education students since January 1, 2008.
An objection form, Objection To Disclosure Of Student Information and Records, can be found on the California Department of Education website. The objection form must be submitted to the Court by April 1, 2016. A separate form needs to be completed for each student.
